Project Light!

Update: I apologize for the white lines, something has gone awry with Blogger, just highlight over it and you can see the text.
Light is undoubtedly very important in photography and can make or break a photograph. However, most of us don't often think about light as a physical thing, its just..kinda there and it helps us see things. Here's a little science background info: visible light is emitted as tiny little particles called "photons". These photon particles bounce off stuff and into our eyes, giving us vision and colors. The same thing goes for photographs, light bounces off stuff and into the processor located in the back of the camera. So I thought, if light is a physical thing, why can't I manipulate light itself ?  Instead of manipulating the camera to accommodate the light, I used light as a sort of "paint" by painting over subjects in real time. This technique for me reconciled the art of painting and photography, two of my favorite things! Over the coming weeks, I will be experimenting with this technique and I'll be posting the results so stay tuned !

Jam session with South Banks

This past week I had the great pleasure of joining South Banks in one of their routine jam session. I took the opportunity to bust out my camera for a couple of shots. What I experienced was both serenity and inspiration. When I was on the ground getting some low shots, literally in the middle of the performance, I couldn't help but be carried away with the spirit of rock, passion, and creativity. There's something to be said about being surrounded by a group of passionate musicians, deep in their element, doing the one thing they know they were born to do. I don't share their passion for music, nor am I much knowledgeable about it yet there we were sharing a moment of pure creativity. Not a word was uttered yet we were deep in conversation. So without further ado here are some of the shots I took.

South Banks will be playing at the Stone Pony in Ashbury Park, New Jersey on Tuesday the 26th and on the 29th at world renowned artist David Banegas's studio in Red Bank, New Jersey for the "Love is Louder" Project sponsored by the JED Foundation and MTV. Don't miss the chance to check these guys out. I will be there personally and will be blogging about it so stay tune!
